Over the past few years I’ve really been focusing on upgrading the ingredients of my personal care items, cleaning supplies, and food. It’s important that we take care of our bodies, and one easy way is to limit the exposure to toxic chemicals that are well documented at being bad for us.
I did some research and finally made a recipe of all purpose cleaner that I really really like! It's doing a great job cleaning and disinfecting my kitchen and bathrooms. It’s literally so great. When cleaning granite or quartz you want to use a neutral cleaner, so pH around 7! Many people like vinegar as a cleaning solution, but it is very acidic with a pH of around 3, so it is not safe for many surfaces! In small diluted amounts you might find it to be okay, but it can start to eat away at the finish and you don't want that on your nice surfaces! Plus, vinegar smells terrible...so I'll pass :)
I use this spray in my kitchen and bathroom, exactly the types of places I need to kill germs. It even gets out tough stains on my stove top (because I wait longer than what is acceptable to clean it...). It works great on my stainless steal appliances too. If you have spaces in your house that don't get much traffic or have anything done in there that creates germs (aka my laundry room) you can always just wipe those surfaces with warm water...and occasionally use a disinfectant!
Tips for using this Cleaner:
Use a Glass Spray Bottle so you can reuse it over and over again!
Use a wash cloth (vs. paper towel) not only is it reusable, but it helps with cleaning up those tough stains you should have cleaned up yesterday (oh is that just me!?)
Use a funnel to add the ingredients into the bottle, so you don’t spill things everywhere!
If you have some tougher messes (like the stove or something on the counter) spray the cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and then clean. It’s amazing how well this stuff works!
Natural Ingredients/Supplies Used
Remember, you’re cleaning up your dirty kitchen…there is no need to use anything expensive here!
Castile Soap is a vegetable based, gentle cleanser that is really good at fighting against unwanted germs. Plus, you can pronounce all of the ingredients :) I use Dr. Bronner's brand and it is more and more readily available in stores. I see it at target and my local grocery store! It can be found on amazon too, if you’re like me and shop for everything on Amazon.
Since this will be need to stored long term, you want to use distilled water to avoid any bacterial growth!
Tea Tree Oil is one of the top antibacterial essential oils! Necessary for cleaning tough messes.
Lemon Essential Oil great antiseptic qualities and helpful in making your cleaning supplies semll amazing!
You want to use an Amber Spray Bottle for your cleaner to keep it fresher, longer. Essential oils go bad with light exposure over time, it helps lengthen the life of your spray!
It helps to use wash cloths for cleaning (instead of paper towel) because not only are they reusable and that's always good, they will stand up to some more scrubbing allowing you to clean some tougher messes!
